Rafael in Antioquia, Colombia

Rafael was invited to spend a week in Rionegro working with students at the Universidad Católica de Oriente. His visit included a concert performance with the UCO Banda Sinfónica, and visits to work with youth orchestras at schools of music in El Santuario and in Envigado near Medellín. This visit was coordinated by Rafael's long-time collaborator Carlos Granthon from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and hosted by Professor Carlos Mario Buritiká in Colombia.

Rafael had the opportunity to visit with the Secretary of Education in Envigado and offer an invitation to the directors of their school of music to visit Costa Rica in July. During this visit, maestros Diomer Garcia and Christian Gomez will offer workshops for city officials and personnel within the department of culture in the municipality of Curridabat, as well as participate as guest faculty at the "Orquesta del Mar" Festival in Puntarenas.
