Music Tour to Costa Rica

Students from Augsburg University visited Costa Rica for ten days to conduct residencies with two music schools in the Sistema Nacional de Educación Musical (SiNEM). Auggies performed as part of the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil de Agaus Zarcas for a concert celebrating the fifteenth anniversary of this school’s founding and spent several days on the Pacific coast working with SiNEM students in Cobano on the Nicoya Peninsula. These visits are intended to broaden the cultural perspective of U.S. students and to expand their concepts of artistry and their musical expectations. This was the fourth time that music students from Augsburg University have visited Costa Rica with me and I had a great time watching our young university students from Minneapolis give lessons to Costa Rican students and learn from these experiences.
