October 2024.

My second concert as the Director of Orchestral Studies at the University of Memphis provided the opportunity to center composers from throughout the Americas who are rarely represented on North American programs. From Costa Rican composer Julio Fonseca’s “Vals Leda” to Florence Price’s “Dances in the Canebrakes,” and José Pablo Moncayo’s “Huapango” to Antonín Dvořák’s majestic Symphony No. 6, this program celebrates the spirit of rhythm and movement in music that connects us as Americans in a continental sense.
