November 2023.

The Ministry of Culture of Peru maintains four professional orchestras in different regions throughout the country. Building on the relationships that he has developed and the work with other orchestras and their conductors in Lima, Rafael was invited to conduct the orchestra in Cusco with a repertoire featuring Charles Ives’ “The Unanswered Question,” the “Concertino for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra” by Brazilian composer Radamés Gnattali with guest soloist Luís Miguel Herrera, and W.A. Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K. 550. The concert was given in the "Capilla de Nuestra Señora de Loreto" on the main square in Cusco and was well attended by an enthusiastic audience.
