Orchestral Conducting Workshop in Costa Rica

Rafael is excited to be working with the “Sistema” in Costa Rica providing professional development for a cohort of 20 conductors leading youth orchestras in music schools throughout the country. With a focus on conducting and rehearsal technique, participants received over twenty hours of instruction resulting in certificated Continuing Education Units through Augsburg University’s Center for Adult and Continuing Education.

Sessions included working with a live youth orchestra and conductors had the opportunity to showcase their developing skills in an interactive “laboratory” setting that included student observations on the effectiveness of their conducting gestures. The “Sistema” conductors were thrilled to receive these workshops sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Rafael looks forward to continuing this training program in Costa Rica again soon.
